About

A housekeeper, though a servant, is not a slave. She helps keep things clean and organized, welcoming. And when a guest arrives, she’s the first to greet them, opening the door to welcome them in, offering them coffee or tea or even just a cool drink of water, and then ushering them into the sitting room to meet with her master.

That’s what I want to be: the Lord’s housekeeper. I want to tend to God’s house, welcoming people into the kingdom and ushering in to meet with my Beloved Master. I believe that, someday, this will include tending to an actual house, a home, where people feel welcome and come to meet with the Lord.

In the meantime, I’m navigating through what it means to be a wife, a sister, a friend, a neighbor, a follower of Christ. In particular, I’m exploring what it means to be a good steward of God’s blessings (material and spiritual), which is why you’ll probably read a lot here about sewing, gardening, cooking, and hanging out with the poor.

“For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” – Psalm 84:10

  2. I like your site design a lot. How did you get the categories along the top? I am trying to figure it out..

    • Thanks! It’s one of my favorite themes yet (I’ve switched a couple times….and had wordpress switch it without permission once :-P).

To get the categories along the top, go to “appearances” (on the side buttons), then “Menus”. On the side there should several options of things to add to your menu: custom links, pages, and categories. For the pages and categories, you just check the little box next to the ones that you want to add and hit the “add to menu” button. You have to have a theme that has a custom menu but it looks like yours does.
